New Year, New Objectives
With the new year finally here, now is the time to begin brainstorming and implementing new business objectives. From strategizing to executing, your business goals and incentives are going to drive you and your staff’s motivation for the year. At the beginning of the year most people are motivated and open to change. Use this time to your advantage by discussing and creating company objectives and a game plan to achieve them.
Short-term vs. Long-term Goals. Sometimes it can be easy to set an unrealistic goal without realizing it. Whether you need more help than you anticipate or simply don’t have the means to achieve a goal, set a smaller or short-term goal to build your business up to eventually reaching that bigger or long-term goal. Trial and error may allow you to refine and resolve any issues in processes, methods, or structures that can accelerate the progress toward your business’ long-term goal.
Collaborative and Communicative. One of the biggest hindrances to falling off the New Year resolution, or in this case the “New Year, new objectives” mindset, is lack of support and communication. Gather your employees and have a simple, motivational speech handy. Clearly communicate the goals you hope to achieve. Open the floor for others to give feedback, share their own goals, and work together to come up with a strategy to make it a collaborative effort. Your employees are your support system, so be sure to communicate as much as possible to ensure all objectives are clear, in perspective, and everyone can play their part.
Out with the Old. As entrepreneurs, it can be difficult to give up or let go of something that just isn’t working. However, it is necessary to release what isn’t working and refocus on the things that are. Invest your time and resources into processes that work and refining, evolving, and maintaining those processes can give your business the boost it needs. Letting go and moving on are just part of the revitalization of your business. The second part is putting forth the effort and making time for all your commitments and strategies to achieve them. Look around to identify any pain points that interfere with your goals and discover ways to implement change that pushes your initiatives forward. From replacing an old machine to revamping office décor could give the motivation you and your employees seek for the new year objectives.
